Scarborough Made x TAS

Scarborough is one of the most diverse places in Canada and home to many new immigrants and Indigenous communities. 

To celebrate Scarborough as a cultural hub of Toronto, the Scarborough Made artist collective has teamed up with TAS to produce a collaborative public art installation. “We Are Scarborough Made” showcases the artist collective’s five years of documentary storytelling and creative placemaking by sharing narratives representing Scarborough’s strength, resilience and diversity.

We welcome people from near and far to learn about the stories of our community leaders, cultural innovators, and everyday heroes.   Prominently located in South Scarborough along historical Kingston Road, this installation brings community arts to a busy intersection and helps beautify an underutilized two-story plaza in the Scarborough Village neighbourhood.    

It provides a gathering ground to reflect on our shared history and future aspirations as a community by telling the unique stories of people who take pride in Scarborough. 

Produced by professional and emerging artists, the artwork you see here pays tribute to the power of collective action through community-driven storytelling as a way to empower future generations.
